Description
Cozy cottage dating from the 19th century located in a beautiful forest with a typical Swedish countryside feel to it. Here you choose yourself if you want to relax in a calm, typical Småland environment or find your own adventures. You can read more below about the possibilities *. The cottage is suitable for both the lone adventurer and the family with children who want to find peace close to nature.
The cottage has a double bedroom and a spacious loft with two double beds delimited with privacy. Bed linen included. A bathroom with a shower and a modern combustion toilet, or an outdoor toilet for those who want to feel nostalgic. There is no washing machine, but if necessary it can be solved for a small fee. Kitchen equipped with refrigerator, small freezer, stove and crockery. Living/dining room with the possibility to light a fire, firewood included. Cozy glass veranda to have your morning coffee on. Large plot to enjoy with exterior furniture and barbecue. There is a small vegetable garden to take part in, we promise no certainty for what will be available during your stay as it depends entirely on what has been harvested before.
* Forest The plot is surrounded by a forest that is beautiful to walk in as well as mushrooms and berry-rich in late summer/autumn.
Bathing place There are many nice lakes in the area to both swim and fish in (when fishing it is your responsibility to check regulations regarding fishing, permits ect.) The best lake in our opinion is Hultebrään which is 15km from the cottage with typical Småland gravel roads with stone walls. There is also the opportunity to grill and a small playground (swings).
Hiking There are nice trails around Nybro. Our tip is Örsjö hiking trail 5, 7, or 2km. Easy hiking on paths and gravel roads. Very nice for both the experienced but also for eg. families with children. There is a rest area with a toilet and barbecue area. More information: http://www2.glasriket.se/sv/se-gora/1422551/%C3%B6rsj%C3%B6-vandringsled/detäller There are also nice nature reserves around Nybro! Canoeing/kayaking It is possible to rent a canoe or kayak in different places.
Kalmar / Öland Less than half an hour from the cottage is Kalmar. A vibrant and beautiful city with outdoor cafes and all convenience. Great swimming area at Kalmarsundsparken. Museum, park, harbor, and castle are some of the many things that exist in Kalmar. A few minutes over the bridge or with the ferry Dessie you come over to Öland. Definitely worth a visit.
Nybro is also a part of Glasriket directly translated to The Glass kingdom or the Glass realm. Here is a great history of hand-blown glass since the 1700s. There are still open glassworks and the glass from this area is famous around the whole of Sweden.
