Escape to this cozy, rustic gem nestled in the heart of Tjörn, Sweden. Once a school built in 1895, this charming house offers a unique, peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. With the sea at your doorstep and the stunning Vetteberget mountain nearby, it’s the perfect spot for nature lovers, families, and couples seeking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. While the house is full of character, it doesn’t come with all the modern bells and whistles—making it the perfect escape for those looking to disconnect. Embrace the charm of this historic space, complete with a cozy bedroom featuring a warm fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen, including high chairs for children. The bathroom and entrance have underfloor heating, ensuring a comfortable stay. There’s no WiFi, so you can fully immerse yourself in the peaceful surroundings. The TV is non-smart, but it can be easily connected to a device via HDMI. For additional sleeping space, the lounge features a sofa bed, perfect for children (or adults). Water comes from our well, giving the house an off-the-grid feel, while electricity is connected to keep things practical. Step outside to explore the natural beauty of the area, with kayaking opportunities, a swimming spot at Kårevik, and stunning hiking views. Nearby, you’ll find saunas, walking trails, and an organic farm shop in Mölnebo (in the summer). The charming village of Rönnäng, with ferry access to islands like Åstol and Dyrön, is just a short drive away. Please note: the house may be undergoing some exterior painting, weather permitting, so you may encounter scaffolding or painters during your stay.
Directions
Travel south on Route 169, passing through Fagerfjäll. After Olsby, take the first left onto Hakefjordsvägen, then turn right onto the private road to enter Kuballe (the first right). Continue straight for about 150 meters, passing large red barns on both your left and right. Immediately after the red barn on your right, turn right. The Old School will be at the top of the slight incline. You are welcome to park in front of the house.
