Lill-Brunnsta - The Small Cottage
Lill-Brunnsta is situated ca 450 meters from our farm, along one of our farm roads. Our fields surround the cottage and you can see our village from the windows and the garden. Often you can see wildlife around Lill-Brunnsta, as deers, hares and phasans and many other birds. Mooses can also be seen some times. We can recommend our guests to bring binoculars. In the garden there is furniture to sit in. The garden is nice and rather big. It has flowers, hedges, berry bushes and fruit trees. It is a perfect place for children to play as there is hardly any traffic. Lill-Brunnsta consists of two living houses, one main house and a small guesthouse. There is also small barn. In spring and autumn Lill-Brunnsta offers you a beautiful night heaven with the moon and stars. In the summer Sweden has its light summer nights which are also very special and beautiful.
The main house
The main house has a kitchen with all you need for cooking. A small stove, microwave oven, refrigerator with a small freezer, a sink where you can dish wash etc. In the kitchen there is a place to sit for 4-5 persons and a sofa, which you can change into a double bed. There is also a sleeping room with 2 beds. In the bedroom you have a small table, a bureau and a couple of chairs. Lill-Brunnsta has no TV set.
The guest house
As also mentioned above there is an extra guesthouse in the garden. The guest house has 2 beds, one bed 80 cm and one 120 cm. In the small house there is also a bureau, a small table, two chairs a hot water heater and some cups and glasses. We use the guesthouse when there are too few beds in the main house.
The shower and the modern ecological toilet and wash basin are situated in a newly built “service house” a few steps walk from the 2 houses.
Lill-Brunnsta it really is a nice place and we are happy to recommend it to our guests.
Lill-Brunnsta is open May – September. If the weather is nice we can also have guests there April and October.
Brunnsta Gård has also other houses/beds which you can rent nights or weeks.
About the Farm
We live in an old, nice and beautiful village. The typical Swedish red and white houses are situated close to each other, in the same way as in ancient times. Here you find tranquillity with fields, forests and lakes close to the village. From here you can easily reach a lot of different cities and places that are interesting for all kinds of visitors. If you have a map over this area you find Brunnsta just outside Bålsta, between the churches Yttergran and Övergran. As you also can see Stockholm, Uppsala, Sigtuna, Skokloster, Drottningholm, Birka and many other interesting places are not far from here
With a car you need about 40-45 minutes to go to Stockholm city (50 km from here), 45 minutes to Uppsala (50 km from here), 40 minutes to Arlanda/Stockholm airport (38 km from here) and 20 minutes to Sigtuna (20 km from here).
There is a convenient local train from Stockholm Central station directly to Bålsta every half an hour. From Arlanda airport and Uppsala there are several convenient busses to Brunnsta and the near of Brunnsta several times a day.
There are several nice swim places in the lake Mälaren in short distance from the farm. You can also try to catch some fish in the lake. Fishing tools you can rent from us. We have bicycles you can hire. On our farm we have some sheep, a few hens and a dog. Nearby at a neighbour’s farm you will find Icelandic ponies, which you can rent for shorter or longer riding tours in the forest and fields. In a nice big barn, where we make breakfast and parties we have some local products and souvenirs for our guests to buy. If you wish to go shopping or having a meal at a restaurant there are several excellent alternatives in Bålsta 4-6 km from Brunnsta.
Four our guests we have apartments/rooms in three old houses close to our own house. We try to keep it all in the old, typical, genuine style. You can have access to your own kitchen with all you need for cooking and self-service. We have also a nice cottage, Lill-Brunnsta, ca 450 m from the farm. The cottage is old, nice and very typical Swedish style.
In the fields and forest you have good possibilities to see wild animals as moose, raw deers, hares, phasans etc. Bring binoculars!
In the warm period there are often nice mushrooms in the forest which you can pick.
Our guests also have possibility to rent a wooden heated sauna. All rooms, showers, toilets etc are nice and clean.
Directions
Road description from Stockholm
Long 59o 36’ 38’’; Lat 17o 28’ 56’’. Take the highway E18 out from Stockholm in the direction Bromma, Enköping, Oslo. When you have reached Bålsta there are 2 ways out from the highway/motorway. TAKE THE SECOND ONE – Bålsta V/Trafikplats Åsen, NUMBER 146. Then you will immediately reach the old Stockholm road. Take that road to the right towards Skokloster. After 2 km you will pass a small church – Yttergran (one of Sweden’s smallest churches from the year 1200). After 1 km further you will reach our sign “Rum & Frukost 1” and “Brunnsta”. Turn here to the left and after 1 km you will reach our village Brunnsta.
We live in the 5th house on your left hand. The houses are situated very near to the road and you cannot miss them. If you need descriptions from other destinations please call.
